But, I’ll NEVER be able to eat ANYTHING in a restaurant again!!!

You know those times in life where we….ASSume things? Well sometimes we allow these ASSumptions to get the best of our mind and convince us that something is “too hard”, “can’t be done”, “inconvenient”, blah, blah, blah. Well, hopefully you’ve caught on to my gentle reminder of what ASSume stands for: “To make an A$$ out of U and ME”……My point being that you CAN be Vegan and eat out. As a matter of fact, more and more restaurants are embracing the Vegan eating choice on their menus AND MANY Chefs are very open to accommodating a Vegan meal. Remember to ASK. I have many restaurants that I go to that are always willing to alter a meal OR even “create” a Vegan dish for me. I even call ahead to restaurants (during non-peak hours) and ask to speak to the Chef and inform the Chef that I’m coming to the restaurant and I am Vegan and ask what options they have. I’ve had several Chefs get excited and have a meal prepared just for me when I visited the restaurant. You can also take other meals and many times do something as simple as ask for the meat to be excluded from the meal. I often find meals that have multiple tasty vegetables that might have Fish placed on top….just ask them to leave off the Fish. Presto, instant Vegan meal!

So, my advice is to always look at each restaurant as a unique opportunity and embrace it and you’ll be amazed at how many creative ways you’ll find to continue enjoy the incredible and rewarding Vegan lifestyle!

All the Best!

What will your choice be?

I love to read all types of books: “Self Help”, “Business”, “Wellness”, etc and I always strive to get a solid “takeaway” from each book (some books I’m fortunate enough to gain multiple “takeaways”). One of my all time favorites is “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey. A phenomenal book that I would suggest to EVERYONE. It gives great insight that can be applied to areas of your life. My big “takeway” from this book is that EVERYTHING IN LIFE IS A CHOICE.

Yes, there is ALWAYS a Choice……you might not like the Choice, however there always is one. You hear people say things such as: “I really don’t like my job, but I have to go to it” and you might respond: “you have the CHOICE to quit your job” and then you hear:” I can NOT quit my job”….you see people are programmed to think they don’t have a CHOICE when they actually do. The CHOICE here is to either find ways to like your job OR quit your job….just do NOT allow yourself to believe you don’t have a CHOICE because you do. When you grasp this concept, it is actually very liberating and empowering because it reminds us that we ARE in control!

So, the CHOICE I made was to begin the path of a Vegan eating lifestyle. I knew I wanted to be healthier and feel better and take care of my body and the more research I did and the more “experimenting” I did, I knew the CHOICE for me was Vegan. I am asked by friends and new people I meet about being Vegan and how I am Vegan and my first response is: “I made a CHOICE to be Vegan”. Once I made the CHOICE, I found that everything else began to fall in line.

So, what will your CHOICE be?

Becoming Vegan

It all started “innocently enough”, I took a course provided by my good friend Elle Erickson as she guided us through the incredible book by Kathy Freston entitled: “The Quantum Wellness Cleanse”.  I always enjoy trying new things and being open minded, especially when it comes to my health, however I never expected something would make such a profound impact.  The book took me on a 21 day cleanse and started me off in becoming a Vegan.

The class with Elle was phenomenal and the people I shared the experience with were incredible.  You literally had “all walks of life” and I loved that because it showed that so many people are now finding ways to make positive changes in their life and realize that their diet is such a great way to make HUGE positive changes!

Changing to a Vegan lifestyle does take getting used to, however what good things in life don’t?  The coolest part was that it began to get me to notice the effects that the previous food I put into my body was having on me.  As we grow in life, society (especially TV Commercials) had us convinced that we’re supposed to eat until we literally can’t move, collapse on a couch and unbutton the top button on our pants so we can breathe and that the bloated feeling is “satisfaction from a good meal”….yikes.  I now know that nothing could be farther from the truth.  I have incredibly filling and tasty meals now and NO BLOAT, I actually feel GREAT after meals….imagine that?!?

Now imagine your health increasing practically IMMEDIATELY when you make this change….imagine loosing fat you’ve been storing for years simply by altering your diet….imagine the sinus conditions you constantly endure and “post nasal drip” going away? I think they should call it “Post DAIRY Drip” to be more accurate and tell you to remove dairy from your diet instead of dumping money after money after money on sinus related sprays and other products.

Becoming Vegan for me has been without a doubt the smartest health move I’ve ever made. I feel better, more energized and love the added benefits of making a positive impact on the environment.

I loved Becoming Vegan and Love Being Vegan!
